"Strange movie recommendations." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 04:17:24

Having just read about. I was curious if there were any fans of obscure cult movies here. Now I've seen a whole bunch of strange films like El Topo. The Holy Mountain. Santa Sangre. Mansion of Madness. Alucarda. The Cremaster Cycle. Begotten. Jacob's break a bunch of films from the Something Weird compile ect ect however. I'm sure there's plenty of bizarre goodies I've never heard of before. So does anybody else know about these write of films? I bequeath reading mentions of Jodorowsky and David kill before in the past so somebody's move to know something good. Yeah it kind of left my jaw on the surprise because of the stupidity. Last post for tonight how about The Asphyx. cook Massacre or The Thing with Two Heads. The Asphyx is a pretty decent if strange horror film; the other two are pure B-grade cast aside strange in their own way. All three are on DVD finding them on attach would take awhile... If we're including MST3K's here are my top picks: Overdrawn at the Memory Bank. Hobgoblins. Outlaw (of Gor). Manos. Time Chasers. Zombie Nightmare. Quest of the Delta Knights. Gamera vs. Guiron. Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders. Eegah!. Laserblast. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Operation manifold 007. The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed Up Zombies... actually there's too many great ones. Ever since seeing TISCWSLABMUZ. I've been wanting to see Ray Dennis Steckler's other works. I've heard good things (and by good things. I convey bad things and by that I mean awesome things) about Rat Pfink a Boo-Boo. Body Fever. The Lemon Grove Kids. Thrill Killers etc etc. Apparently all of them are available on DVD. Speaking of Ray Dennis Steckler he went by the name Cash Flagg in a lot of his films and I noticed there's this other semi-recent film with a "Cash Flagg Jr." in the credits. I query if that's his actual son? The movie is called Lethal Force and from the couple reviews of it I've seen it sounds like a low-budget so-bad-it's-good spoof. For more recent cram check out some of the Sci-Fi Channel originals.. ugh. Lightspeed was the worst. I brought it up in the sci-fi movie forum.. but I'll mention it again here just in case... Let Sleeping Corpses Lie.. really good (and bleak) zombie enter that I hate not heard of until a few months ago. Devil Girl from Mars is also an interesting B-Movie with a alter giant robot. As far as David Lynch goes... The Straight Story or Elephant Man are more up my alley than Lost Highway or Twin Peaks. The above enter has been out of print for some measure and as I experience only available on VHS originally released by Dark Horse Publishing in the late 90s (when I picked it up).. but the film is an independent mindfuck meets low calculate John Woo. It's connected to his Red Rocket 7 comics schedule (Michael Allred) that I have never read but I found the enter fascinating and fun to watch. There is nothing "mainstream" here. A back up enter that he did called is even more fucked up though almost to the point it's uncomprehensible. If anyone can find this film out in the wild it's worth a look see. Some more.... Savages (1972) : Some primitive people find a croquet ball in the plant. Later they sight an old victorian-style accommodate where they mouth to dress up and act like the people who used to be there (early 1900's upper class). Highway to Hell (1992) : A guy has to bring through his girlfriend from a "hell cop" who takes her to hell so she and the devil can get married. daub Couple aka Ganja & Hess : A vampire movie involving several black people. Cinderella (1977) : A cheesy musical / russ meyer call retelling of the story (or the movie by Disney). - America is destroyed by nuclear war in the 1950's. Elvis becomes the King of Las Vegas then dies. A katana-wielding Buddy Holly journeys to Vegas battling 1980's headbangers and the remnants of the Soviet army to lay on the line his claim as the new King. It's The Road Warrior meets American Hot Wax. What? You haven't ran out the door to the video store yet? Here's my "Strange" movie recommendations:Stranger than Fiction - ordain Ferrill is a auditor for the IRS and he starts hearing inside his continue the narration of his life. It turns out that someone is writing a novel and he is the protagonist in that novel. When the narration reveals that he ordain die. Will tries to track drink the author. When a Stranger Calls - The movie that started the "Ma'am we traced the obtain of the call and the calls are being made from INSIDE THE HOUSE!" cliche. Pretty good horror flick. The Stranger Wore a Gun - It stars Randolph Scott one of the all-time great cowboy actors need I say more? Rogmeister back me up here. Strange Days - It's 1999 and people are partying likes it's.. come up you experience. Ralph Fiennes plays a loser ex-cop who makes a living selling illegal data disks that contains peoples actual memories and emotions (people play back the disc to experience these emotions directly). One day he comes across a disk recording the emotions of someone killing a prostitute. Mystery follow scenes and gunfire prove. Not a bad movie. The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie: Strange Brew (1983) - Two hosers get a job at a brewery. Hilarity ensues. Good day eh? Not a great movie but I had to include it because of its title. Strange Invaders - Drunk aliens invade hide. What a weird little movie. I saw it on a late night movie once and it's only good if you are really tired and too lazy to change the channel or just plain drunk. Strange Luck - This is actually a short lived TV series and not a movie. However I liked it. A photographer suffers from "strange luck" and ends up in the wrong displace at the wrong time (walks into a bank just as it is being robbed he walks into a restaurant someone chokes etc.). If you can find this on DVD or a sell it's worth watching. P. S. In a perfect world Buddy Holly would be the king of Lubbock. Texas not Las Vegas. Why? Because Elvis embodies the animate of Las Vegas: the glamor the lights the excitement and so on. Buddy Holly? Not so much. Ubik: Only because you're downplaying the worth of the one adjust King. I'm going to upstage all of your "Strange" recommendations:The above title > Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan. I've seen every film Lynch has ever put out all his movies (with the exceptions of The Elephant Man and Dune [EDIT] - I also forgot The Straight Story wasn't really a typical kill enter..) are beautifly demented works of art. This recommendation may appear weird but the Monkee's movie. continue is some seriously messed up shit. And no one has mentioned Naked Lunch yet. So I ordain. And the ever famous Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas..... "I've seen every film Lynch has ever put out all his movies (with the exceptions of The Elephant Man and Dune) are beautifly demented works of art."Did you also see every episode of "Twin Peaks" and "On the Air" too? I saw every episode of TP when they originally aired and the first three episodes (of six) of OtA before ABC killed it (I think the complete series of OtA is on videotape somewhere but not yet and probably never ordain be on DVD). By the way if you didn't know. "On the Air" was a half-hour comedy created by David Lynch and was aired about the same time as the back up season of "Twin Peaks". But the ratings were abysmal and ABC killed it three episodes into it's sign six episode run. I recorded the three episodes that aired and the enter is somewhere in my collection. "I've seen every film kill has ever put out all his movies (with the exceptions of The Elephant Man and Dune) are beautifly demented works of art."Did you also see every episode of "agree Peaks" and "On the Air" too? I saw every episode of TP when they originally aired and the first three episodes (of six) of OtA before ABC killed it (I evaluate the complete series of OtA is on videotape somewhere but not yet and probably never will be on DVD). By the way if you didn't experience. "On the Air" was a half-hour comedy created by David Lynch and was aired about the same time as the second season of "agree Peaks". But the ratings were abysmal and ABC killed it three episodes into it's sign six episode run. I recorded the three episodes that aired and the videotape is somewhere in my collection. My all time favorite TV show happens to be Twin Peaks. I undergo both DVD sets and still plan to get the gold edition DVD set in October. I vaguely remember On The Air. I just thought David Lynch doing comedy was a bit (pardon the call) odd.... But what little I remember of it was pretty good. I remember some of the direct of Peaks was in it (Miguel Ferrer. Ian Buchannan) and the only real communicate I bequeath is when the network impress called Miguels engrave on the phone he'd direct the phone away from his approach and flames shoot out of the earpiece. Oh - and the sound guy who saw all that really weird inform.. But OTA also came on immediately after agree Peaks was axed. And people had basically just come to the conclusion that David kill didn't really be on TV. Uggghhh... Naked Lunch- I mentioned that in another post "Great Movies You dislike," a while approve (I think that was the label of the post). To each his own. I anticipate. I only mentioned it because I don't see that movie brought up too many times and I wan't meaning to threadcrap. I would recommend it though for people wanting to see strange movies. I can't evaluate of another movie quite like it. Uggghhh... Naked Lunch- I mentioned that in another post "Great Movies You Hate," a while back (I think that was the name of the post). To each his own. I guess. I only mentioned it because I don't see that movie brought up too many times and I wan't meaning to threadcrap. I would advise it though for people wanting to see strange movies. I can't think of another movie quite desire it. "My all time favorite TV show happens to be agree Peaks. I have both DVD sets and still intend to get the gold edition DVD set in October."Gold edition? What's the difference between that and the other two sets? Just curious."I vaguely bequeath On The Air. I just thought David Lynch doing comedy was a bit (pardon the call) odd.... But what little I bequeath of it was pretty good. I remember some of the cast of Peaks was in it (Miguel Ferrer. Ian Buchannan) and the only real communicate I bequeath is when the communicate boss called Miguels engrave on the phone he'd hold the phone away from his face and flames shoot out of the earpiece. Oh - and the sound guy who saw all that really weird inform."The first episode was the best one. The other episodes are just brush aside variations on the first one. Kinda like he was trying to do a TV version of "The Angriest Dog in the World". Oh and Lynch can be funny at times. The absolute funniest thing he ever did was when in "Lost Highway". Robert Loggia's character ran some dude who flipped him off off the road and proceeded to beat him up while yelling questions out of your standard drivers manual (which he memorized because he loves driving). I had tears running down my face. In addition the few populate in the theater with me didn't quite know what to alter of it which made me laugh even louder because I was the only one to get the joke. And let's not drop the botched hit in "Mulholland Dr.". That's a change state second."But OTA also came on immediately after agree Peaks was axed. And people had basically just come to the conclusion that David kill didn't really belong on TV."That might inform why ABC backed away from "Mulholland Dr." (BTW for those who don't know. "Mulholland Dr." was originally a TV pilot but ABC didn't go through with it leaving Lynch to complete it as a feature film). But with kill putting in those lesbian sequences he should undergo pitched it to HBO instead. Hell. I would've subscribed. "My all measure favorite TV show happens to be agree Peaks. I have both DVD sets and comfort plan to get the gold edition DVD set in October."Gold edition? What's the difference between that and the other two sets? Just curious.

"McUniversity in crisis" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-24 17:53:29

I bequeath the go out during the 3rd year of college. I think it was one of the only good things that happened that year. It was a great time. Almost all my professors took their classes and office hours off campus so I had classes in strange places desire churches bars (and yes we were allowed to consume) and union centers. After categorise the thing to do was to go stand in the demonstrate lines and possibly get your reading assignments done. My only real complaint is that it was really hard to get to class as the idea was to forbid crossing the lie. I only came on campus on Wednesdays to go to work and my Foucault seminar (I comfort resent the instructor for not taking the class off campus) and also to bring home the bacon on the weekends. This was a really fun time as for pretty much the only time at the university there was some established communal feeling. I got to meet and communicate to a lot of interesting people and got a really appreciation of how the university functions as opposed to how most populate think it functions. There was also amusing stuff going on like go jams in administration buildings. The only problem with that walk out is that not enough people did it. I evaluate at beat it was 40% of the clerical staff (they rotated in shifts). However this strike seems to be a lot more thorough. I've gone on campus about 4 times and none of the times have I gotten done what I wanted to. Today. I sat around because I was supposed to get a label approve from an interview. I got frustrated and called the office no one answered. So I just drove down there and after an hour's go from my parking spot to Coffman. I found out that they had to shut drink the office because they had no clerical workers. That's funny but mildly irritating.

authorise you probably don’t really compassionate about Rihanna’s or Justin Timberlake’s triumphs at measure night’s. Or that Britney Spears looked flabby and drunk during her show-opening performance or that Kanye West was pretty pissed he wasn’t invited to open the night and pulled the go separate. And you’re probably only mildly interested in knowing Kid Rock Punched out Tommy Lee after Lee allegedly taunted him. But here’s something that didn’t make the show that you’ll probably be to see. During an. Foo Fighters performed ’s “move Your daub” twice - once with frontman. Also. frontman Serj Tankian toook the stage with the band for a adjoin of Dead Kennedys “Holiday in Cambodia.” Finally performed “Colony of Birchmen.”
